My coworker's husband died yesterday.

When the notice went up on the board I watched the different reactions.  Mostly shock and disbelief.

I thought to myself, why the shock?  I felt saddness for K and what she was going through, they were both about to retire, and a deeper saddness for her husband if he didn't know the Lord.  Then I looked around and a deep, deep sorrow came over me for all the lost.

There is 100% chance that we are all going to die and I thought how not one person gave a thought to where K's husband is now.  When you die it is not the end of everything, you either go to heaven if you believe in the Lord and are saved or you go to hell.  One place or the other.  No turning back, no second chances, no pleading your case.  NOW is the time to come to Christ and admit you are a sinner in need of a savior, He is waiting for you with open arms.   Then I read todays promise on line and thought it would be a good one to copy and paste.

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold all things are become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17, KJV).

A prominent businessman, elder in a prestigious church, was impatient with "narrow-minded, born-again Christians." "I am a Christian," he said, "but I have never been born again, and frankly I'm not interested. We emphasize more important issues in my church."

When I read the third chapter of John with him and explained that there is only one kind of biblical Christian, the one who is "born-again," and that no other kind of "Christian" can enter into the kingdom of God according to the words of Jesus, the light suddenly went on. With this new insight he readily received Christ as his Savior and Lord.

A caterpillar is an ugly, hairy, earthbound worm - until it weaves a cocoon about its body. Then an amazing transformation takes place. Out of that cocoon emerges a beautiful butterfly - a new creature, able to live on another plane, to soar in to the heavens. So it is with man.

John 3 records Jesus' explanation of how one becomes a new creature. Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews who tried to adhere meticulously to every detail of the law, had come to Jesus for counsel.

"'Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.' Jesus answered and said to him, 'Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." (John 3:2,3, NAS).

Puzzled, Nicodemus asked, "How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born, can he?" (John 3:4, NAS). Then Jesus explained that physical birth alone does not qualify anyone to enter the kingdom of God. Since His is a spiritual kingdom, we must experience spiritual birth.

Bible Reading: Romans 6:4-14

TODAY'S ACTION POINT: I will read John's gospel, chapter three, meditating especially on the first eight verses, and will consider again my relationship with the Lord. If I should die today, I want to be sure I would go to heaven, and through the enabling of the Holy Spirit I want to begin living the supernatural life.

Read in another post...God helps those who help themselves. Not true.

Nowhere in the bible is the saying "God helps those who help themselves".
The saying, "God helps those who help themselves," came to us by way of Benjamin Franklin (1736). Franklin himself was a deist and so he believed that God did not play an active role in men's lives. In his point of view if man was not able to help himself, then man was hopeless.

The Bible teaches something entirely different than the above saying, because God makes special provision to help the helpless.

Romans 5:6, 8
For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly....But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Proverbs 28:26
He who trusts in his own heart is a fool,
But he who walks wisely will be delivered.

Jeremiah 17:5
Thus says the LORD,
"Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind
And makes flesh his strength,
And whose heart turns away from the LORD.

Yesterday

I just felt like taking random pictures all day yesterday.  The mornng glories were first thing in the morning because they won't last too much longer , the cat likes to watch me get ready in the morning, the line of library books is what I did for 3 hours at work, behind the scenes at the circulation desk is what I did for another 2 hours at work, Super Guinea Pig is a super cute book I checked in, a walk in the cemetery next door to the library to do some 'retirement'  planning, and the last picture is the view out the back of the library.  Isn't it a pretty spot, I am blessed to work there.

It is good to think about eternity. When you know the Lord He sure takes the fear of death away.  What an awsome thing  it is to be sure of where you are going to go when you leave this earth.

Hebrews 2:15     and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

Psalm 116:8     For You have delivered my soul from death, My eyes from tears, [And] my feet from falling.

John 5:24     "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.

Thank you Jesus!

I only have 3 friends on Facebook

My three daughters.
I only have facebook because I wanted to keep in touch with my daughter in Oklahoma. Then it started. Lots of "friend" requests from people I didn't even know. Maybe I am taking friend way too literally, but some of the things I see on their pages I didn't want to be any part of. If you say you are a Christian I think that perhaps you should not post pictures, songs and video clips that are ungodly. Do they think God can't see what's on line? He sees everything. If you are living with your boyfriend and calling yourself a christian you are fooling yourself. So I disabled any other "friends" and I only have 3 friends for good. I am okay with it.

Wireless away from home

is not all that great really.  I am sitting in Panera for a quick meal before my bible study with my laptop.  Unless you have a buddy with you how do you get a coffee refill or use the restroom?  Forget about leaving Whitey on the table all alone.

The lady across the room has 2 laptops in front of her.  What could she be doing and why do I care really.  I am so darn curious about things.  If someone tells me they got a divorce I always want to ask why.  Does anyone else do that?  I wonder.  In the bible it says a child of God should not be busybodies and I know why.  Wait let me look up the verse.

1 Titus 5:13And withal they learn [to be] idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.

God's word is so totally amazing.  If you read it and do it you will have a blessed life.  It covers everything!

Thank you God for your word.

I guess maybe free wifi is cool if you don't have access at home.  Thank God we have high speed at home and at work, I am not used to waiting for anything on line.  How quickly we come to expect the next best thing.  I remember when we had dial up @ home, talk about  slow...ugh.  I am so used to speed now that I get impatient really fast.  Lord work that out of me.  I just think the internet is the greatest thing ever.

Someone is making some green.

I work at a public library processing the new books, it is a great job.

Below is just a sampling of the green section of the library.

I am so glad I know WHO is in control, because the environmentalists are
about two steps away from forming a religion out of this stuff. I wonder if
all the money they spent publishing and distributing these books was spent
actually doing something about, oh no....GLOBAL WARMING!

I choose to worship the Creator instead of the creation.
Romans 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and
served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever.

btw we had an unusually cool summer this year, it was quite nice.

Isn't this the greatest picture?
We let our granddaughter eat an ice cream cone without "fussing" about the
drips. Such joy!
